Synopsis:  Set in a mythical New York City, this romantic comedy soars with the  spirit of Broadway as the audience is introduced to a cast of vivid characters from the late 1940s who have become legends: from the mission doll to the slick gambler who woos her on a bet and ends up falling in love with her to the chronically ill nightclub performer whose condition is brought on by the fact she was engaged to the same man for 14 years.
